Case Study with Caroline Sani – Winner of The 2022 People’s Choice Award
After winning the Fashanne People’s Choice Award, Caroline graduated from the University of Northampton with a First and multiple awards for innovative use of upcycled sustainable materials. She also founded her own fashion brand, Caroline Mosyemi.
Caroline has been celebrated for her innovative approach to sustainable fashion, earning accolades like the “CEC Sustainable Fashion” award in 2021 and the “Leather Sellers” & “Leather Curriers” awards. Her culturally rich and sustainable “Radiosity” collection was handpicked for Graduate Fashion Week’s “Creative Talent of Tomorrow” photoshoot, where the BBC hailed her as a “Rising Star of Tomorrow” in the industry.
Caroline’s work caught the eye of fashion luminary Michael Burgess, leading to her invitation to the prestigious 2022 FIMA show in Rabat, where she was dubbed the “Mother of Afro-Futurism”. She later headlined Marrakech Fashion Week 2023.
With a commitment to sustainability, Caroline ensures that over 50% of her “Caroline Mosyemi” runway collections are crafted using sustainable methods, while her upcycling program “Caroline Mosyemi” is nearly 100% upcycled. Her creative process thrives on repurposing surplus material offcuts and dyes, fostering innovation and eco-consciousness.
Drawing inspiration from social and political causes, Caroline believes fashion can drive meaningful conversations and shape society positively. Through internship programs, she nurtures young talents interested in fashion, upcycling, and garment-making, fostering a new generation of creative minds.
Caroline serves as an inspiration to all aspiring designers of the future and we couldn’t be more excited to see where the future takes her!
